Mauro’s signature style is aimed at Young adult and Women’s fiction and combines a myriad of genres including horror, family saga, suspense, and romance.

She has written one trilogy and one eBook. Her books are typically populated with unusually beautiful people and the supernatural. There is usually a dark/light, good/evil conflict, revolving around a central strong, female character, who finds herself in a gloomy mansion trying to uncover its darkly kept secrets.

Unofficial Bio

This is my lame, rambling autobiography:

Dear Reader,

Thought I’d a share a little bit about me and my writing!

Well, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area with my parents and my younger brother, Chris. Since early childhood, my mother instilled a love of literature in my brother and me. She would read to us every day and when we were old enough, she took us to get our first Library card, and with that card, she gave me the chance to enter another world, the world of make believe—of fiction. I would check out at least ten books at a time, quickly finish those, and eagerly go back for more. Even in my youth, I wrote plays, casting all the neighborhood children in my dramas. So, you see it has been bred into me, into my very soul this love of the written word. During my teens, I read many different popular authors—never going anywhere without a book in hand!

So being a voracious reader all of my life, and while I enjoy reading all types of fiction, my favorite genre, the books that really touch my heart are Horror novels; from sensuous to spine-tingling, from charming to scary, I love them all. I believe my writing style differs from the traditional horror genre because my stories tend to have some romance weaved into the plot. That being said, I'm not a romance writer, in the classic sense of the term. I write primarily what is considered, Paranormal Romance, which is also one of the fastest growing genres in fiction. But I also write romantic suspense and horror. I didn't come to paranormal romance from the romance genre either.. I have always been a voracious reader, but never inclined toward romance. Oh, I tried a few, but other than Barbara Michaels, Mary Stewart, Victoria Holt, and Norah Lofts, who don't really write romance—I suspect that many other paranormal readers come from some of the same literary genres I read—mystery, gothic, and horror. (Though I have read a few Danielle Steel novels too.)

The latest chapter in my own life involves spending time with my family and friends and creating additional stories. I am also an active member of the Horror Writers Association, Romance Writers of America, and Gothic Romance Writers of America. The proudest moments in my life have been the birth of my children and the day I held my first published novel in my hands.

Word of advice? Just don't ever give up on your dreams, or let anyone belittle them because you just need to believe in yourself and someday they will come true.

Wishing you a lot of happy horror reading,

~S
